Nolan off Batman? Bay done with Transformers?

Say it isn’t so? Apparently Director Christopher Nolan has been so shook up by Heath Ledger’s death that he may not return for the next Batman. Not to be outdone, Michael Bay has been telling everyone he’s done with the Transformers.

First with Christopher Nolan, according to Batman on Film, Nolan has been hit “hard” over the death of Heath Ledger and that there is no way he can top The Dark Knight so he’s done with Batman on film.  Interestingly enough, Nolan seems to be continuing to develop ideas for the third film with Jonathan Nolan and David Goyer but at the moment there doesn’t seem to be a concrete idea for the next film and even if there were it likely would be put on screens until 2012 at the earliest. While that news is a bummer, just my two cents but Christopher Nolan seemed to say he wasn’t going to make a second Batman film either yet did, plus if he is continuing to develop ideas he’s obviously still interested in the process. My guess is that eventually he’ll come around, but only time will tell.

Now on with Michael Bay. Canoe.ca is saying that Bay has been throwing hissy fits over how the critcs always seem to trash his movies. “It’s easy to go shoot an art movie in a winery in the South of France. But people have no idea how hard it is to create something like Transformers. They (the critics) review me before they’ve even seen the movie.”  Then he ends up adding “After the three and a half years I’ve spent making these movies, I feel like I’ve had enough of the Transformers world.” Not to seem insensitive, but Michael Bay threw a similar Hissy Fit after the first movie and seemed to use it as a tactic to get more dough for the second. Also, you’d think by now he really wouldn’t care what the critics thought. Remember that little movie Pearl Harbour where he tried to tell a love story? yeah, didn’t go so well.

Spread the love
