Sony closed out the press conferences today at E3 2009. Trailing behind both Nintendo and Microsoft in the console wars, we keep waiting of Sony to have a breakout year and try to regain their former glory. With a solid line up on the horizon Sony may just do that.

The continuing evolution of the PS3 continues. Sony offers up the latest firmware upgrade the includes: enhanced Photo Album functions You can now play DivX 3.11-encoded video files. You can now access PlayStation®Store without a PlayStation®Network account.
The PS3 finally puts the “tube” into YouTube with its own dedicated channel. To check it out, launch the Playstation web browser and enter www.youtube.com/tv. The PS3-only interface will let you interact with YouTube’s huge video library without getting off the couch. The site’s still in Beta, so don’t expect it to be perfect just yet.
December 11th Sony Home Entertainment released HOME beta. The virtual world where you can hang out in a virtual apartment or meet your friends down at the virtual mall. And, so far I’m not impressed with it at all. After downloading and installing the program it gave me countless errors.
Today Sony Computer Entertainment Inc. announced that its PlayStation Home Beta service for PS3 owners will become available for all around the world on December 11, 2008. Does that mean this will be the largest ‘beta test’ for software ever? Does it even matter? We’ve got the official word from Sony.
