Criterion Finally Jumping into 4K UltraHD Land with Six Titles

We heard rumors a few months back that Criterion would soon be announcing their first slate of 4K Ultra High Definition Blu-rays and they are swinging for the fences. The premiere media company announced six titles they are releasing and they are leading off with something they have not done since laserdisc 37-years ago… Citizen Kane.

That’s right Orsen Welles’s classic is making its debut in 4K. Along with this lead off title they also announced Menace II Society, The Piano, Mulholland Dr., The Red Shoes, and A Hard Day’s Night.

The is just the per-announcement. In November 2021 Announcement next week they will provide more details for what will be included in each of these releases, but did tease select titles will be getting a Dolby Vision transfer and Dolby Atmos.

Bring it on Criterion. Physical media collectors have been waiting with baited breath to see what you have in store.
