David Ayer’s Last Statement on The Ayer Cut of Suicide Squad

Wow, that’s all I have to say. David Ayer just posted a powerful message on Twitter in response to a truly disrespectful tweet from a Senior Critic for Screen Daily. Ayer signs off saying this is the last time he will talk about his cut of Suicide Squad, and frankly, after reading, I’m disgusted with with the Internet. However, I really really want to see The Ayer Cut. We were lucky to finally see Zack Snyder’s vision and lot of the top brass over at WB has changed so there is always a change it could happen. The chances are very slim, but I’d be first in line to see if the movie lives up the hype we’ve built up in our minds.

One section really stood out to me and speaks to the cesspool that is the internet. It was this:

So I kept my mouth shut and took the tsunami of sometimes shockingly personal criticism. Why? That’s what I’ve done my whole life. Real talk I’d rather get shot at.

Twitter

I don’t go digging into personal lives of movie makers and stars, but this man is lucky to be alive. I’m not going to retype his words. I’ll let you read what he said, but know that the movie we saw in theatres (or at home) was 100% the studio cut and not what Ayer has stored somewhere that a whole massive fan base would love to see. Make it happen HBO MAX.

I’ve embedded below. It’s up to you if you want to side with Ayer or the “critic”, but this is a raw, and heartfelt post.
