‘Fringe’ – S1 Coming in September

During the traditional window from September to May of first run series a few always seem to end up being tagged for later viewing as time, opportunity, and personal whimsy conspire against making them required viewing.

Fringe fell into that category for me.  While the concept intrigued, and John Noble’s portrayal of addled genius Walter Bishop tickled my funny bone, other shows had a stronger pull on me.  However the same people responsible for this show had just pulled off a fantastic reboot of the Star Trek franchise with the recent movie so my curiousity was peaked enough for me to revisit the series.

This revisit mutated into a, ‘Big Gulp,’ marathon and I ended up watching the 20 first season hour long episodes in a short two day period.  Fringe is a series that works better in this approach in my opinion because the character beats are small and kept in the background.  By the time the last episode played I was very intrigued as the show’s main conceit was finally revealed.  Throw in a cast addition with one of the members from the original Star Trek series and mark me down as a devoted follower now.

Details of the first season boxset can be found in the accompanying press release.

BURBANK, CA (May 28, 2009) – Teleportation. Mind control. Invisibility. Astral projection. Mutation. Reanimation. Phenomena that exist on the Fringe of science unleash their strange powers in this thrilling, critically-acclaimed series, as Warner Home Video releases Fringe: The Complete First Season on DVD and Blu-ray™ Hi Def on September 8, 2009 for $59.98/ $79.98.

From J.J. And many of the clues lead them to Massive Dynamic, a shadowy global corporation that may be more powerful than any nation. Season 1 also starred Lance Reddick, Kirk Acevedo, Blair Brown, Jasika Nicole and Mark Valley. Fringe is from Bad Robot Productions in association with Warner Bros. Television.
