The animation company that brought The Minions to life is working on a Super Mario Bros. movie and have assembled a super star cast. Are they needed for a Super Mario Movie? Probably not, but I’m not disappointed by this list:

- Jack Black as Bowser
- Keegan-Michael Key as Toad
- Seth Rogen as Donkey Kong
- Fred Armisen as Cranky Kong
- Kevin Michael Richardson as Kamek
- Sebastian Maniscalco as Spike
- Charles Martinet’s role was not announced
Aaron Horvath and Michael Jelenic are directing based on a script from Matthew Fogel. With Chris Meledandri’s Illumination producing along with Shigeru Miyamoto of Nintendo. The planned release date is December 21, 2022.
Mario and Luigi are two of the most beloved heroes in all of popular culture, and we are honored to have the unique opportunity to work so closely with Shigeru Miyamoto and the widely imaginative team at Nintendo to bring these characters to life in an animated movie, unlike any film Illumination has made to date.
