Twitter is exploding right now with news that Variety just broke. Seems as though Paramount is pretty happy with Chris Pine’s turn in Star Trek that their ready to offer him another top line franchise. That’s right movie lovers, Chris Pine, aka Captain James T. Kirk, has begun negotiations to star as Jack Ryan.
Word is that it will be an original script and not based on a novel written by Jack Ryan creator Tom Clancy. Variety had this to say:
Talks are just getting underway, but Pine is expected to come aboard the Jack Ryan film as the project takes shape. The studio and producers Lorenzo di Bonaventura and Mace Neufeld are working with a script draft by Hossein Amini, based on an original concept. They are still in deep development and it is unclear whether Pine would make another “Star Trek” before the Jack Ryan film. He will clearly be working often for Paramount over the next several years.
Pine will be the fourth actor to play the character previously played by Alec Baldwin, Harrison Ford, and Ben Affleck.
So, what do you think? Is Chris Pine ready for espionage?
