Christopher Nolan – Batman, Superman, and James Bond?

While in London to promote the premiere of his latest project, the science fiction thriller, ‘Inception,’ director/producer/writer Christopher Nolan made it known that the James Bond films were a source of inspiration for him as a youth.

An inspiration that he carried into Inception.  Nolan said, “The Bond influence on the film was very intentional because, for me, growing up with the Bond films — they’ve always stood for grand-scale action.”

Speaking during an audio interview with BBC Radio 4, on Thursday 8th July 2010 Nolan specifically referenced On Her Majesty’s Secret Service and its skiing action sequences.

When asked if he would be up to directing a Bond picture, Nolan said he would love to direct the iconic character.  Already heavily involved with Batman and providing input into the next Superman movie; adding James Bond to his portfolio would be most impressive indeed.  I wonder how Nolan feels about Spider-man?

The interview can be listened to at the BBC web site as part of their Front Row program.
