Hollywood continues to tread in the remake waters with the news that those folks over at 20th Century Fox are planning to remake, or even possibly reinvent an 80’s action staple… Commando. Although, I thought they already did this with The Marine in 2006.
Deadline has gotten word that Fox has hired David Ayer to begin penning the script. Which is why I suspect this will be a reinvention of the character John Matrix rather than a new action packed explode-o-rama like the Arnold Schwarzenegger version of the film. Let’s take a look at Ayer’s credits: Training Day, Harsh Times, and Street Kings.
Deadline goes on to say “ Ayer’s protagonist will be less brawny, but more skilled in covert tactics and weaponry.” I wonder if they will go with the kidnapped daughter, which in turns leads to him kidnapping a female pilot for help?
I am truly beginning to believe that Hollywood is out of Ideas.
