Elijah Wood is, in fact, joining The Toxic Avenger reboot. Just not in the role previously believed. Julia Davis of Sally4Ever will also be joining the cast which currently has Peter Dinklage, Jacob Tremblay, Kevin Bacon and Taylour Paige.
You’re going to be hearing a lot about The Toxic Avenger as things ramp up, but if you don’t know anything about the original Troma film here’s what you need to know.
Toxie, as he’s known, is an awkward nerd who gets shoved into a vat of Toxic Waste and becomes a powerful mutant with superhuman strength to stand up to bullies. The original movie is a campy nod to superheroes written by Lloyd Kaufman who also co-directed along with Michael Herz. It is chalked full of over-the-top acting and violence.
The new Legendary Entertainment adaptation has been written and will be directed by Macon Blair.
