Finally, from our pals at Fox Home Entertainment, comes a bevy of info on upcoming TV series releases on DVD. After the success of sets like THE SIMPSONS, MALCOLM IN THE MIDDLE, 24 and the ever-present X-FILES and BUFFY THE VAMPIRE SLAYER sets, Fox is ready to unleash another wave of titles in the new year. The lineup will include FUTURAMA, KING OF THE HILL, THE SHIELD, SON OF THE BEACH, NYPD BLUE, DARK ANGEL, THE FAMILY GUY and ANGEL. Other long awaited releases, including ALLY MC BEAL, ROSWELL and WKRP IN CINCINNATI have been hung up because of the prohibitive costs of resecuring home video rights for the enormous amounts of heavily liscensed pop music used in the shows.
Fox also announced some catalogue titles coming in the next year, including ALL THAT JAZZ, MY DARLING CLEMENTINE, the COCOON films, LAURA and a new Special Edition version of ALIEN. They also announce that catalogue titles will no longer be considered for the 5-STAR brand, and will only be releasing newer films in 5-STAR packages.
