EXTRA! EXTRA!

BATMAN VS. SUPERMAN IS NOW OFFICIAL!! MADONNA IN DIE ANOTHER DAY! SWAMP THING?!?! Artisan Entertainment has purchased the thriller script THE LOST from screenwriters Dan Dworkin and Jay Beattie, about a psychiatrist who reevaluates a patient he diagnosed with multiple personalities, to find strange forces at work. Martin Henderson and Jaime Pressly have joined the cast of TORQUE for director Joseph Kahn. The film will be about a biker who finds himself framed for the murder of a rival gang leader\’s brother. Ice Cube will star along with Jay Hernandez, Matt Schulze and Adam Scott. Ed Harris and Giovanni Ribisi have been added to the immense cast of Masked and Anonymous, along with a cavalcade of stars including Bob Dylan and Luke Wilson. Marlon Wayans will star in KUNG FU THEATRE for Dreamworks. It is about the misadventures of a couch potato comic-book artist who finds himself transported into a chop-socky action film. Dylan Baker has been added to the cast of Chris Rock\’s HEAD OF STATE, which will star Rock, Bernie Mac, Tamala Jones and Lynn Whitfield. SUPERMAN VS. BATMAN previously known as WORLD\’S FINEST, has been officially announced by Warners as a 2004 contender. Wolfgang Petersen will direct, and plans to have major casting completed in the next 2 to 4 weeks, to facilitate shooting in February 2003. There are reportedly \’3 great parts for women\’ in addition to the two superheroes, and the plot will concern not only a battle against evil-doers, but a skirmish of ideals between Supes and the Dark Knight. Warners is still moving forward with plans for Darren Aronofsky\’s BATMAN : YEAR ONE, and McG\’s new SUPERMAN film. Michelle Rodriguez is in talks to costar with Colin Farrell and Sam Jackson in the big screen SWAT adaptation. Vin Deisel has signed up to star in Revolution Studios epic bio of HANNIBAL. Not to be confused with the brain-munching Sir Anthony Hopkins vehicle, this film will be based on the life of the Carthagenian general who rode elephants over the Alps to ambush the Roman empire, while still in his 20\’s. Revolution hopes to whip this project up for production by next year, before Deisel films the sequel to Revolutions upcoming XXX. Ron Howard has turned down the directors chair on THE ALAMO, which he has been prepping for years now. Howard and his producing partner Brian Grazer may still co-produce the film, but Howard has decided to move on to other directorial projects. Disney Studios is hunting for a new helmer as we speak, and hopes to keep the actors attached while Stephen Gaghan finishes a script rewrite. Russel Crowe and Ethan Hawke are among the stars previously attached. Tommy Lee Jones has signed on to a comedy about Cheerleaders in the witness protection program called CHEER UP. Jones would play the aging FBI man assigned to protect the teenage girls who witness a gangland contract killing. The Agent, sensing trouble, takes the Cheerleaders on the lam and on the run from the mob. Madonna\’s cameo in the upcoming James Bond film DIE ANOTHER DAY has finally been revealed. She will play a fencing instructor in a specially designed Versace dress. Go figure! Warner Bros. is still hot on comic book adaptations, and is currently developing a new adaptation of SWAMP THING, based on the new, darker gothic style of the comic book, rather than the over-the-top ridiculousness of the previous two films.
