Superior Package???
Isn’t he some kind of exotic super hero!
Paramount Home Entertainment is readying the latest installment of the Jack Ryan Experience, otherwise known as THE SUM OF ALL FEARS, for release to DVD fans everywhere on October 29.
Unlike previous Jack Ryan DVD’s SUM will have the top of the line treatment with 5.1 DDS sound mix and an Anamorphic Widescreen transfer. Extras will include two commentary tracks – one featuring director Phil Alden Robinson and cinematographer John Lindley, the second featuring novelist Tom Clancy. There will also be a making of featurette and a second do*censored*entary called CREATING REALITY: THE VISUAL EFFECTS OF THE SUM OF ALL FEARS as well as the theatrical trailer.
Classic drama doesn’t come any better than SUNSET BOULEVARD, and the homage to Hollywoods golden age will finally make it’s bow on DVD on November 5. This “Special Edition” disc will preserve the original 1.37:1 aspect ratio and a cleaned-up mono soundtrack. The special features will include a commentary track, featurettes THE MAKING OF SUNSET BOULEVARD and THE MUSIC OF SUNSET BOULEVARD as well as trailers and a map of the Hollywood locations used in the film.
Christopher Nolan’s masterful follow-up to MEMENTO will make it’s presence known on October 15.
INSOMNIA will be available in separate Fullscreen and Anamorphic Widescreen formats with the same audio and extras. Audio specs are not yet available, but extras will include commentary, biographies, several docu-featurettes, a behind-the-scenes featurette, filmographies, interviews, a photo gallery and trailers.
Anchor Bay will continue it’s tradition of excellence with releases of 5 classic Wim Wenders films.
THE AMERICAN FRIEND, NOTEBOOK ON CITIES AND CLOTHES and NICK’S FILM LIGHTNING OVER WATER will be released this fall, with THE SCARLET LETTER and CHAMBER 666 available in early 2003. No details are available yet, but as always, Anchor Bay has promised to deliver on their reputation for superior packages.
