I was shocked today, to hear of the recent passing of one of my favorite character actresses, Kellie Waymire. While many of you may say you’ve never heard of her, Waymire was one of those instantly recognizable faces who appeared in a multitude of bit parts, cameos and guest-starring roles in some of TV’s biggest hits. Waymire was an unassuming petite firecracker who infused all of her roles with a sense of urgency and excitement. She was a native Texan, with an MFA from UC Sand Diego and a wealth of experience and acclaim on stage throughout the US. She made her TV debut as Vivian in the SEINFELD episode “The Blood”. After another high profile guest role in the X-FILES episode “SureKill” and as Coleen in a 1994 episode of FRIENDS, Waymire took a small role on the Soap ONE LIFE TO LIVE. While she had a few small Film roles, including my favorite B-movie underdog of last year – MANIACTS – Waymire continued to focus more on Stage and TV roles, winning the Dramalogue award for her performance in SYLVIA at San Diego’s Old Globe, and appearing in memorable, and often recurring, roles in such popular shows as STAR TREK VOYAGER, ENTERPRISE, CSI, ALLY MCBEAL, THE PRACTICE and most recently in a 6-episode arc in the second season of SIX FEET UNDER and as the mother of the chronically cursed family in Fox TV’s short lived show THE PITTS.Kellie Waymire passed away at the age of 36 on November 13 at her home in L.A.. While full details have yet to be released, but she is said to have died from an undiagnosed medical condition.Check out the article at CNN.COMCheck out my review of MANIACTS in the DVD REVIEW section.
