New Line announces Lord of the Rings:Fellowship of the Ring DVD release The official site of New Line\’s Lord of the Rings trilogy, Lordoftherings.net recently announced the release date and specs of the first Fellowship of the Ring DVD, as well as some details of the upcoming special edition set. The Theatrical cut of the film will be available to own August 6, 2002 in both an anamorphic widescreen and a full-frame transfer at 2.35:1 ratio. Both versions come with a Dolby EX 5.1 sound mix, and a second disc full of extras. The extras include: 3 documentaries Welcome to middle earth, The Quest for the Ring, and A passage to middle earth. 15 web featurettes originally shown on lordoftherings.net over the course of the last 2 years, these featurettes include exclusive special effects footage and interviews with the cast and crew The ten minute trailer for the next installment of the trilogy \"The Two Towers\" which will be added to prints of Fellowship this Friday.
