Holy Halls Of Moria!!!The Evil One, your resident LOTR geek, has your hookup for deets on both sets of THE LORD OF THE RINGS: THE TWO TOWERSDue this fall…Read on, friend, and enter… Let’s start at the beginning, shall we?August 26 sees the release of the standard theatrical cut of LOTR:THE TWO TOWERS. The format will be more or less the same as last Augusts 2-disc release of THE FELLOWSHIP OF THE RING. Available in both Fullscreen and Anamorphic Widescreen, the film will be presented with Dolby Digital EX 5.1 audio. Disc one will hold the film, while disc two will contain all of the extras. 2 full-length documentaries – ON THE SET: LOTR THE TWO TOWERS and RETURN TO MIDDLE EARTH, will be joined by a short film by Sean Astin, a making-of featurette and additional featurettes – FORCES OF DARKNESS, EDORAS: THE ROHAN CAPITAL, GANDALF THE WHITE, DESIGNING THE SOUNDS OF MIDDLE-EARTH, CREATURES OF MIDDLE-EARTH, THE BATTLE OF HELM’S DEEP, ARMS AND ARMOR and BRINGING GOLLUM TO LIFE. In addition, you’ll find a music video, preview of the 4-disc Extended Edition DVD, a video game preview and a preview of the final film LOTR: RETURN OF THE KING.The 2-disc version will also be released in a box set with the 2-disc FELLOWSHIP OF THE RING. On November 18, we can all rejoice for the release of the LORD OF THE RINGS: THE TWO TOWERS – SPECIAL EXTENDED DVD EDITION. This bad boy will give us an extra 40 minutes of footage restored to the film, as well as 4 separate audio commentaries – Peter Jackson and the writers, the design team, the production team, and of course, one with the cast. The film will be presented in Anamorphic Widescreen and DD EX 5.1 and DTS 6.1 audio tracks. Extras will include many, many featurettes, a few of which are titled PRINCIPLE PHOTOGRAPHY, BIGATURES, SENDING ACTORS TO BATTLE and POST-PRODUCTION. Also included are tours of the digital effects facilities and the miniature studios, sound design demos, documentaries on the adaptation from book to script, from script to screen, etc. As with the first 4-disc set, look for tons of storyboards, pre-viz animatics, location tours, interactive maps and appendices, stills and much more. A few easter eggs are sure to be found (the MTV Movie Award Gollum “rant” perhaps?), and the set will be available as the stand-alone 40discs, or as a deluxe “box” with a National Geographic documentary disc, a special DVD from WETA Workshop FX on the creation of Gollum, special packaging and…Ready for it?…A sculpted polystone Gollum statuette to place next to your Argonath bookends!!Prrrrrrreeeeeeeecioussssssssssssssssssssssssssss…
