Return of the King on DVD May 25th

Hobbits, Wizards, Orcs, Elves, and Men you’ll get your first fix of the final installment in the Lord of the Rings trilogy is coming soon. The Return of the King is set to street May 25th. This is the official word from New Line. The two-disc set will be just like that of its predecessors. The first DVD will have the 201-minute theatrical edition of the film with Anamorphic Widescreen (and foolscreen editions will be available for fools) with Dolby Digital EX 5.1 surround sound. The extended edition is currently rumored to be released in September. The second disc will boast two featurettes created for the lordoftherings.net. It will also the music video for “Into the West” Annie Lennox’s Oscar-nominated song, trailers and TV spots, a preview of the extended four-disc edition of The Return of the King and DVD-ROM stuff. We also have a sample of the cover art from lordoftherings.net. Unfortunately, they’re all superimposed on top of each other with the, blah, VHS version in there as well. Once we get some better art we’ll post it.
