Ghostbusters: Afterlife – 2nd Review

Ghostbusters: Afterlife is the Ghostbusters sequel we deserve. Jason Reitman and his co-writer, Gil Kenan, just gave us a lesson on how to create a new entry into a highly classic film franchise.

Afterlife, not only manages to pay homage to the original films but also relaunch the Ghostbusters’ intellectual property. For me the last attempt failed because it attempted to reuse the exact same gags that were successful in 1984 instead of trying to be its own thing.

Mckenna Grace kills it as Phoebe. She is the highlight of this movie and is able to play her nerdy socially awkward scientist in training. Her brother, played by Finn Wolfhard, seems like a bit of an add-on character, but standby his sister no matter what. The other highlight, besides the always awesome Paul Rudd, was Podcast played by Logan Kim an extroverted loaner who loves the occult.

It’s a tough film to review without giving spoilers. Just know, that in my humble opinion, Ghostbuters: Afterlife should be seen in theatres as soon as possible. I know that I can’t wait to see again.
