Stillwater – Blu-ray Review

Stillwater is a long and slow drama that is also captivating directed by Academy Award winner Tom McCarthy. That is thanks to a strong performance from Matt Damon and Camille Cottin. The main character, Bill (Matt Damon), is travelling from the US to Marseille, France to visit his incarcerated daughter (Abigail Breslin), who has been convicted of a crime she did not commit. Damon plays a roughneck...[Read More]

Army of Thieves – Review

My favourite part of Army of the Dead was Ludwig Dieter. His goofiness and confidence was hilarious. The fact that Mattias Schweighöfer was able to replay the character in a prequel made me happy. Mattias not only starred, but also directed Army of Thieves. The zombie outbreak does make an appearance a few times in the movie to create the bridge to the Army of the Dead universe. The movie starts w...[Read More]

Denis Villeneuve’s DUNE is getting a PART Two

After seeing DUNE Part One weekend and seeing how it ended I was really hoping Denis Villeneuve would get to finish his interpretation of Frank Herbert’s DUNE. I was fearful it might not happen, but “fear is the mind-killer”. I hate to repeat what’s being said everywhere, but DUNE, is a work of art. Each shot is painting. It’s engaging. It’s mind-blowing and I k...[Read More]

The Suicide Squad – 4K UHD Review

Movie Review I missed this one in theatres. I still wasn’t ready to head back into the world when it was released. We also don’t have HBO MAX here, so I had to wait until its physical release. I’m a little disappointed I didn’t get to see James Gunn’s The Suicide Squad on the big screen. It’s a wonderfully engaging film. It took less than a minute before I was onboard. Holy cow, what a fun ride it...[Read More]

Hocus Pocus – 31 Nights of Halloween

It was 1993 when a movie introduced the Sanderson sisters to world. A trio of witches who invade Salem in modern times (well, 1993 standard times), and while Hocus Pocus is not billed as horror movie it is a great movie to watch around Halloween. I know in our household we tend to watch it the week before Halloween. The movie is heightened by the incredibly fun performances given by Bette Midler, ...[Read More]

Ray Fisher Fan Expo Interview

Ray Fisher is one cool dude in my humble opinion. He’s not afraid to speak his mind. In our interview we talked about the realization of Zack’s Snyder’s Justice League, his character’s (Cyborg’s) arc, and a bit about accountability > art. I never thought I’d get to speak with member of Zack’s Justice League, but it happened. FAN EXPO Canada: LIMITED EDITIO...[Read More]

Kit Young Fan Expo Interview

With the pandemic still going strong some interview opportunities for FanExpo “limited edition” were being done in advance of the event on Zoom. I was fortunate to sit down with Shadow and Bones fan favourite Kit Young, who plays Jesper, while he was still back home in Europe. A morally ambiguous character who walks the line between villain and hero. Watch the interview below FAN EXPO ...[Read More]

First Look at Black Adam – DC Fandome

Dwayne Johnson shared the Black Adam footage from today’s DC Fandome event and WOAH! I think that’s all that needs to be said.

The Batman DC FanDome Trailer Debut

While DC FanDome showed some teasers and behind-the-scenes looks at many of their future titles including Aquaman and The Lost Kingdom, a first look at Black Adam, and even Shazam and Fury of the Gods, but the standout for me, a LONG TIME fan, was new The Batman trailer from director Matt Reeves. This looks raw and gritty and I can’t wait for the movie now. I’m sold. Watch it the trail...[Read More]

The Nightmare Before Christmas – 31 Nights of Halloween

There are very few Halloween/horror movies that you can sit down and watch with young kids that aren’t filled with nightmare inducing scares. There is one, however, that is often discussed not only around Halloween, but also around Christmas. It’s from the mind of Tim Burton and features some very catchy tunes and one Jack Skellington. That’s right, I’m talking about The Nightmare Before Christmas...[Read More]

Ghostbusters and Ghostbusters II Getting Dolby Vision 4K Release

Yes, you read that title correctly. According to GeekGab Ghostbusters and Ghostbusters II will be getting a 4K UltraHD re-release deluxe edition in 2022 with a Dolby Vision transfer. This is good news to me as the first release is terrible in my opinion. It’s old film with lots of grain, but it becomes distracting in 4K and even washed out some of the details and dulled many others. As this ...[Read More]
