At X08 we talked to Cliff Bleszinski about the Gears of War movie. He didn’t tell us very much, but that a script was on the verge of being turned in. Now, screenwriter Chris Morgan has devulged some information regarding the storyline to MTV.
Those of you that played the first game (Gears of War 2 releasing Nov 7) know that the storyline gave us a brief glimpse at “Emergence Day” when the Locust hord took their fight to the humans on the surface. Then it jumps to the main character, Marcus Fenix, a former COG (Coalition of Ordered Governments), being freed from prison by his friend Dominic Santiago.
Chris tells us that both Fenix and Santigo will be in the film:
“I don’t think you would want to see a movie of this game without them in it”
Here’s a brief snippet from MTV:
When asked specifically whether we’ll see Corpsers and Berserkers getting some screen time, Morgan told MTV, “If I have anything to do with it, you absolutely will.”
“And I do,” he added. “So the answer is ‘Yes.’”
As for how director Len Wiseman plans to bring the creatures to life, Morgan said the film will be a balance between live-action scenes and computer effects akin to a movie like “Aliens,” with much of the CGI devoted to the big battle sequences (he teased that “Emergence Day” would factor prominently in the film) and scenes involving the Locust Horde.
