I hope you’re ready to get more Lord of the Rings. Not only do we have a TV series coming to Amazon Prime Video soon we’re also getting a brand new animated movie from New Line Cinema and Warner Bros. Animation called: The War of the Rohirrim.
The Lord of the Rings: The War of the Rohirrim will be directed by Kenji Kamiyama who was animator on the anime Akira. He also directed the cult-classic anime series Ghost in the Shell: Stand Alone Complex (the non-Netflix one). Oscar winning writer Philippa Boyens, who co-wrote the screenplays for the original trilogy, will return to consult on the project. The screenplay will be written by The Dark Crystal: Age of Resistance dual Jeffrey Addiss and Will Matthews.
This animated standalone feature tells the story of how Helm’s Deep earned its name under the leadership of ninth King of Rohan, Helm Hammerhand. In Lord of the Rings: The Two Towers King Théoden says to those behind the wall “The horn of Helm Hammerhand shall sound in the deep…one last time!”
