I still remember rushing home from school to watch the animated Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles cartoon. I remember when the 1990 live action film was announced and being there opening night with a group of friends. I remember having to sit by myself as the theatre was packed and I remember everyone dropping movie quotes the second they walked out of the theatre.
I also recollect the travesty that was the Secret of the Ooze, and the terrible trip back in time.
In 2007 a new animated adventure was released and it was enjoyable to an old school Turtles fan.
Now word comes from Variety that The Mirage Group will be moving a head with another live action version, but they’re taking the Batman Begins / Casino Royale road and rebooting the franchise to show the origins of those ninj-tastic quartet.
The film will be produced by Legendary Pictures and co-creator Peter Liard will be on board as executive producer. They’re aiming for a 2011 release for the new hereos in a half shell live action.
