THE LITTLE TRAMP takes on THE SCRUFFY NERF HERDER for the HEAVYWEIGHT CROWN!!!

Harrison Ford’s recent box-office nuclear bomb K:19 THE WIDOWMAKER, is coming to DVD on December 10. Based on the true story of the USSR’s first nuclear sub and the threats to the crew and the planet when the reactor malfunctioned during it’s maiden voyage in 1961. Presented in Anamorphic Widescreen with a 5.1 DDS soundtrack, the disc will also carry a commentary track featuring director Kathryn Bigelow and cinematographer Jeff Cronenweth, 3 featurettes and trailers.

Artisan Home Entertainment is about to unleash the WENDIGO. Mark down December 5 as the release date for this supernatural thriller that has won festival raves and critical accolades during it’s short independent theatrical release. The film will be presented in 1.78:1 AW, with 5.1 DDS sound and extras including trailers, a featurette and audio commentary with director Larry Fessenden.

U2, about to release the second part of their greatest hits package with BEST OF 1990 – 2000, will simultaneously release a DVD package under the same title, featuring videos for all of the songs in the package. Extras will include audio commentary for each video by the director, 6 extra videos, the mini-doc THE ROAD TO SARAJEVO and alternate cuts of some clips. Bullet the blue sky on November 5.

Also in DVD music video land, EMI is set to release a new wave of of video music titles on October 8. (Short notice??) Titles will include:

From extremelly short notice to long term in the longest sense…
WB Home Video and MK2 have announced details for their comprehensive THE CHARLIE CHAPLIN COLLECTION, an extensive series of 18 of Chaplin’s greatest hits in the silent and talkie eras. The first three entries are due in June of 2003 (!!) and will include THE CIRCUS, CITY LIGHTS and THE GREAT DICTATOR. Each will be a 2-disc release with audio commentaries, doc-u-mentaries, alternate fotage, outtakes, still galleries, etc. etc. etc. Obviously sparing no expense to bring these classics back to the masses, WB will release each as either a plainly packaged 2-disc set or as a ‘limited edition’ unit which includes a collectible booklet and film frame. Other titles to come after next June (!!!) are
