Peter Rabbit 2 – 4K UHD Blu-ray Review

Movie Review

While there are some great laughs in Peter Rabbit 2, it loses touch with who Peter rabbit is. I more or less said this in my streaming review. The main human characters could have used a little more time as they were the best part of this movie.

Flopsy, Mospy and Cottentail do bring the laughs while most of Peter’s gags seem forced. However, this is just my adult take on the movie.

My youngest laughed a lot and, seemingly, enjoyed the movie. Guess I wasn’t the target audience. My score remains the same.

Video

This movie looks good. Well, more than good. It’s so clean that during certain sequences the CG rabbits look out of place. I didn’t see any compression artifacts or issues with the blacks. Not much else to complain about here.

The colours are bright and vibrant. Doubt me? Just wait until you see those tomatoes.

Audio

Not sure why there is a Dolby Atmos track here, but I don’t regret that there is one here. It’s on point. Cartoon hijinx can be heard through the soundscape.

Dialog is clear, and the sound track is fun.

Extas

When I first got the menu here I was shocked to see there were no extras on the 4K. I thought to myself “didn’t I read something about extras in the press release”, so I tossed in the Blu-ray and that’s where the few bonus features exist.

There is a Crafting Bunny Bookmarks feature, a Create Your Own Woodland Terrarium feature, and some reused extras from the first movie’s release; Making Your Own Garden feature and a Flopsy Turvy Mini Movie.

Conclusion and Final Thoughts

Regardless of what I think of the film the kids seem to like it and that’s the target audience for this film. If you have a 4K setup I’d grab the 4K UHD over the Blu-ray. It’s stunning. There is nothing wrong with Sony’s pressing of the film.
