ThisGuyOk lady and gents I just finished a little game we like to called Resistance 2. They really should have called this game “Revenge of the shiny things with as little resistance as possible” look at the Acronym on that one eh?! RotStWAlRaP (ah haha I amuse myself)

MAN!!! (or Wo-man) this game is freakin shiny!! Everything is so pretty and shiny and OMG A BAD GUY * shoot shoot shoot* right then before we continue I must warn you this. 1 – Yes I have a goldfish memory. 2 I am amused by shiny things (kina like a goldfish?). Ok Now with that out of the way lemme continue. They have slowed down the gameplay which made me for real sad. My fave part of the 1st Resistance is how well it controlled and they apparently forgot then when facing hordes of Chimera YOU NEED TO MOVE FAST! (Bet yer ass Id be running… and perhaps tripping you then laugh as the legion of vile creatures gets YOU first) Now don’t get me wrong it’s not overly slow but enough for an adaption period while adjusting to the speed (or lack there of).  Controls at lease on default are fine although they have changed from the first one. BEST and I mean BEST part of the whole control scheme is the utilization of sixaxis while laying a good ol pistol whip on someone. (oh so rewarding)

One thing I have to say about the graphics is they are top notch, textures are very well done and the detail is quite nice. Nothing like running away from a beast while watching him slobber over his prey (Till I have a shotgun and then its diet time beastie!) The Predator rip-off optic camo guys were cool but like its been done ya know? Don’t even get me started on the swimming beasties SHIIIIINYYYY!!…….. ummmm oh heh right then,  back to it. I mean I just want to be able to kill one. I have shot at those things with every gun in the game and yup that’s some seriously protective (and Shiny) water because apparently it stops everything!

Notice the real lack of boss fights in the first resistance? Well I for one did, the last boss in the first resistance was a HUGE…. (Not even shiny) reactor of some sort. Nothing strikes fear in the hearts of men like a reactor! Ahhhhhhhh!….LAME!! But fear not lucky for us kiddies the good people at insomniac have fixed this putting bosses LARGE and small. From the ZOMG SHIIIIIIIINY!!!… *wipes drool from mouth* … ok so from the Kraken to the gargantuan Leviathan that reminded me of Cloverfield… cept WAY more badass. I won’t give them all away but in this department Resistance 2 has improved 10 fold.

Multiplayer is fun and the co-op is….. Shiiiiiiny….. *looks at drool covered controller* THAT’S IT! I am so on to you Insomniac! Ok here’s the deal this game is a crafty and devious way of giving Sony more controller sales!  Don’t you see?! Play Resistance 2 drool all over the controller from the super pretty shiny things and BAM  you got yourself one void warranty and are forced to go to the store to fork over more cash to get a new controller which you will then place in a plastic bag while playing Resistance 2 to avoid this whole fiasco again (if your smart)…. Sneaky… but This Guy is on to you… oh yes…. Heh oh yea still reviewing…

Multiplayer has the usual level up system that is popular with online FPS’s now the higher the level of your dood the more guns and stuff you get. I know when reading about this game there was a lot of talk about the co-op which is decent but again you need to level up each class individually.  When your party dies in online co-op you need to start the whole level over again which can at times make you reach a level of frustration that can only be described as controller chewing… (Yes a second way to make the warranty void)

Final thought (shiny SHINY shiny SHINY shiny)  Other then being a shorter single player game Resistance 2 is well put together with nice graphics and fun multiplayer. I didn’t love this game but I also didn’t hate it.  (BUT I LOVE SHINNNY THINGS!!!) Time for me to go trade in this slightly moist controller to get a new one (/me admits defeat on this one)
